Today was a slow morning. The wife had another massage scheduled so I just hung out in the room and surfed the web alternating with some TV to spice things up. Later, we walked back to the cafe near the river where we had lunch in Cork for the first time. Today, one of the server's had her little girl with her. She was so cute, probably around 8 or 9 years old, dressed in her little apron and her Irish orange-red hair and freckles. She waited on people so politely and helped deliver orders and clean up, I just wanted to snatch her up and take her home. I then realized that would probably be frowned upon, even in Ireland, so I left her be to work and we continued on our vacation.
Today was shopping day. Not so much to buy things as to just check out the stores and shops on the appropriately named Merchants Quay. On the way we found the court house that my wife wanted to see and snapped a few pictures. We tooled around the streets, checking out the various shops, running into a TK Maxx (and yes, I spelled that correctly), and then heading inside to check it out. While there and using the restrooms, I was amused to see the handicapped bathroom closed. There was a sign indicating it was closed due to "Anisocial behavior". I am guessing it was being used for very social behaviour, hence the closing.
While walking, we also passed the St. Peter and St. Paul church and went inside. This was the first time there was actually people worshipping in a church. So we quietly left them alone and continued our jaunt in the city. We passed outdoor market stalls and we also passed the English Market, where fresh fruit, meat, and vegetables were being sold. After a few hours of walking the shops, we headed back to the hotel for our final night here. I was going to miss it; our next hotel was nice, but I am sure nothing was going to top this any time soon.
